The Quiet Shelf
Books that found me when I needed stillness, softness, and a return to self.
I read as a way to journey into new spaces — fictional spaces, introspective spaces, even places I never knew existed. More often than not, I’m drawn to books that help me reconnect with a truer version of myself — more grounded, more intentional, more whole.
This year, I’ve been drawn to several books that have quietly, powerfully resonated with my soul.
🌕 How to Be a Moonflower — Katie Daisy
A visual love letter to slowness, seasonal magic, and soulful rituals. This book feels like a warm field of stars and dandelions pressed into paper. It reminded me that beauty is not something to chase — it’s something we become. As I read, I found myself intentionally consuming the artistic pages, pausing to soak in every detail. It became a mindfulness practice in itself.
🐌 The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating — Elisabeth Tova Bailey
A quiet, luminous memoir of illness, observation, and the sacredness of stillness. This book made me want to move slower, listen more, and trust that even the smallest lives hold immense wisdom.
🌳 The Serviceberry — Robin Wall Kimmerer
A short but powerful piece on gift economies, natural abundance, and reciprocity. Kimmerer reminds us that the Earth doesn’t operate through scarcity — it teaches generosity, if we’re willing to learn.
✨ Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe — Laura Lynne Jackson
Not just about signs from beyond — but about listening to life itself with intuition and reverence. It spoke directly to my longing for connection and reminded me that guidance often arrives in gentle whispers.
🌿 Rooted — Lyanda Lynn Haupt
A rich weaving of science, spirit, and the wild. Haupt writes with poetic clarity about what it means to be alive, aware, and embedded in a living, breathing world. It felt like a walk through a forest I didn’t want to leave.
If you’ve read something lately that stirred your soul, I’d love to hear about it. The quiet shelf is always growing — and I’ll be sharing more soulful reads throughout the year, books that bloom beside me. 🌿
